Natural Antihistamines

Custom Chinese herbal formulations can be one of the most effective ways to relieve allergies with long lasting results. A trained herbalist uses bulk herbs that are free of preservatives and other impurities to create a formulation which can be decocted right into a tea. These formulations help to heal the main of overactive immune system responses to lessen allergies symptoms gradually with time.

Classical Chinese formulations for that relief of upper respiratory allergies are Pe Min Kan Wan and Bi Yan Pian. Both addresses sinus congestion, runny eyes, and runny nose.

Be mindful that some Chinese pre-made formulations contain dyes, preservatives, chemical pharmaceuticals, and other impurities. Always look for products that are GMP certified, meaning they’ve been manufactured and processed in a factory that fits FDA standards for purity in terms of acceptable amounts of chemical toxins, lack of chemical drugs, along with other impurities.

Plum Flower Brand (Mayway) and Guang Ci Tang are two brands which i use in clinic as they are free of dyes, chemicals and preservatives. These products are available in many local health food stores or can be purchased from a trained herbalist for example myself or John Fung.

Along with custom and commercial Chinese herbal formulations, western herbs can also be useful. Specifically, nettle leaf is a natural antihistamine that also has got the benefit of detoxifying the liver.

However, not all nettle leaf extracts are equal. Some capsule and extract forms aren’t standardized so not contain enough of the herb to truly help the body on a therapeutic level.

During my private practice, I personally use Gaia Brand Nettle Leaf with standardized fluid extract because it has one of the most energetically potent and bio-available types of nettle leaf without any added sugar, same with safe for diabetics.

Quercetin is definitely an anti-oxidant found in the peels of apples and red onions. It is anti-inflammatory and could help address cancer of the prostate, reduce depression in addition to being an all natural antihistamine.

Many forms of a quercetin supplement are formulated with bromelain, a digestive enzyme from pineapples, which can help relieve inflammation of sinuses.

Last, you can help relieve allergies by increasing foods that are full of anti-oxidants in your diet. This includes vegetables and fruit including leafy green vegetables, broccoli, turnips, carrots, pineapple, papaya, and beverages for example decaffeinated green tea extract, oolong tea benefits (helps reduce excessive mucus, a condition we refer to as dampness in Chinese medicine).

Also to construct your immunity, attempt to add the dried herb astragulus to soups or the fresh herbs, ginger and garlic. It’s a natural way to integrate herbs to your meals to further support balanced immunity and reduced allergies.

Besides a few of the factors causing allergy / asthma in a patient are: (i) house dust (present in bedrooms, mattresses, pillows, rugs, curtains, woollen clothes, blankets, carpets, upholstered furniture, etc.), (ii) moulds (which grow in humid places, like high is a leakage of water in walls, roofs, filters of desert-coolers or airconditioners and places of poor ventilation like cowsheds, barns, etc.), (iii) pollens (from flowers, trees, grasses, weeds, etc.), (iv) dandruff from the skins of animals (i.e., scales in the outer parts of the skins of animals, like dogs, cats, cows, buffaloes, goats, sheeps, horses, etc.), (v) insect debris in the environment (house-flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, ants, butterflies, etc.), (vi) feathers of birds (pigeons, feather pillows), (vii) various contact ants (like lipsticks, powders, soaps, perfumes, hair-dyes, shampoos, oils, creams, after-shave lotions, etc.), (viii) air pollutants (from ill-maintained engines of automobiles, like cars, two-wheelers, trucks, etc.)

Food allergy

Food hypersensitivity is also an important causative factor in many cases of asthma. Any food, like wheat, cereals, ice-cream, vegetables, non-vegetarian food, edible oils, fruits, milk, curd, ghee, eggs, coffee, cold drinks, etc. can cause allergy. Various condiments/spices used in the preparation of food may be the supply of the allergy. Likewise, various preservatives used to preserve food articles may cause asthma. Coloring agents utilized in sweets, etc. too may prove harmful. Fermented food, like pickles, jams, beer, wines are other causes of food hypersensitivity. Even the metabolic by-products of ingested food may cause allergy. It is also seen that sometimes the patient is allergic to the outer covering of wheat, cereals, vegetables, etc. Hence a patient might be allergic to wheat, but not to maida, and similarly, one may be allergic to whole cereals, although not to the ones without outer shells.

Further, sprouted food like beans or any other cereals may cause allergy as a result of fungus in the food. Likewise, stale bread/cooked food could cause allergy when spoiled, due to fungus.

Therefore, it may be asserted the various kinds of foods or related materials could cause allergy, and therefore, it is sometimes almost impossible to recognize the element in the food causing the allergy / asthma.

Some of the factors present inside the body called intrinsic factors may’ function as the precipitating factors causing such an allergy. The most crucial factors are psychogenic, sucl1 as emotional stress, mental conflict, depression. Children are affected emotionally because of the parents having marital problems. Even parents who frequently scold their kids may cause them emotional trauma.

Infection anywhere in the body contributes to the standards causing allergy in a patient. Even cold/cold air or strenuous exercises, like running, swimming, jogging, etc. could cause allergy.

A family history of asthma is a vital intrinsic factor. Hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy, menstruation, or in the case of diseases like thyrotoxicosis, might be accountable for an allergy.

HEPA Home air cleaners – A reason Of How They Work

October 21st, 2011 Comments off

HEPA air purifiers are simply one of several types of filtration systems used to clean the environment within an enclosed space like a home or office. Originally developed by the military in the 1940s to deal with radioactive particles, they’re still extremely effective and popular within the private sector.

HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. The Department of Energy certifies each filter, and they are most often accustomed to remove pollen, dust, along with other common air contaminants. HEPA filters are certified to remove 99.97% of particulates in the air that measure .03 microns or larger.

The filter is made of a glass fiber sheet that is pleated like paper. Corrugated aluminum separators are placed between the pleats. They’re then bonded to some sturdy base to create the core from the filter. Filters must be changed occasionally for max performance. Filters may also be expensive. The filter system functions by drawing air in via a fan. The fiber sheet traps larger particles, while small particulates get trapped inside the charcoal core of the filter. Among the best things about them is they don’t emit any secondary pollutants or byproducts like ozone.

There’s two basic designs… straight and unidirectional. A straight filter draws air in from the back and blows it out the front. A unidirectional unit consumes air every which way, and blows it out in all directions. This really is perfect for cleaning the air of a large room. These portable filter systems are lightweight, and are available in a number of styles to fit your dcor.

HEPA filters can also be installed into your hvac unit, but would have to remain behind if you move. Uninstalling the system would be difficult, and may unfit the air system you have inside your new house.

These home air cleaners can be beneficial in any home. It is generally known that indoor air is much more polluted than outdoor air most of the time. If you suffer from asthma or allergies, a HEPA purifier could be even more useful, because it will remove particulates that may trigger an asthma attack, or dust and pollen that could cause an allergic reaction. These filters are usually quiet and unobtrusive much more operation. They’re also very energy-efficient.

You will find however a few drawbacks. They don’t safeguard your loved ones against bacteria and viruses until the old filter is taken away and replaced. They may be ineffective in large areas. Due to the glass fiber, the filters can easily be damaged during installation, and since they are expensive, that can be a definite problem when that happens. And of course the filters must be changed regularly to remain effective.
